Band Name: Wheatstone Bridge

Name: John Taylor

Who is John Taylor?
David Wilson:  Electric and acoustic guitar, vocals
     John Taylor:  5-string bass, vocals
Ernie Planck:  Electronic and acoustic percussion

How Long Have You Been Playing?
This incarnation of Wheatstone Bridge has been together since
mid-2003. Personally, I've been playing for about 29 years.

What Instruments Do You Play?
Myself?  Guitar, bass, some keyboards...getting into "touchstyle"
playing and hopefully will be purchasing a Chapman stick in the future.
What Was Your First Album?
My first album I ever bought was Fly By Night from Rush.  I went on to
purchase every album Rush ever put out prior to 1989.

What Was Your First Concert?
First concert I ever saw was Elton John in Charlotte in 1980.

Who Is Your Favorite Band?
My personal favorite current band right now would probably be Tool.
My top three bands of all time are Rush, King Crimson, and Yes.
Who Is Your Favorite Local Band?
Wow...that's tough.  We've played with quite a lot of excellent bands
in the area.  I guess we'd be kinda partial to Cerebrum from rock Hill,
and Fret from Concord.  There's just so many bands that we like...for
instance, NiRo is awesome, as well as Orion's Belt...Einstein's Dream from
Asheville...Afternoon at the Autopsy from Kingsport, TN...God, the list is
nearly endless.

What Band Do You Dislike The Most?
I'd rather not answer that, cause we've played with some awesome ones
in teh area.  If you're asking who I personally hate as far as what's on
the radio...I'm not too fond of Nickelback's latest offerings...Beastie
Boys aren't a favorite either, heh.

What Should A Crowd Expect From A Wheatstone Bridge Show?
Find something and hold on, 'cause you're about to board the schizoid
roller coaster.  Our stuff ranges from the bludgeoning to the etheral to
the intricate and back again, all in the span of one song.  At the core of
our band is musicianship,a nd we're constantly challenging ourselves and
the crowd.  We'll take you on a trip like you've never been on, and you'll
be better for it...trust us...heh

What Do You Do To Get Ready For A Show?
Personally, I like to find somewhere quiet and get my head right for
the show.  I don't really have any "must-happen" pre-show ritual...it all
depends on the venue and what I see in the crowd.  I usually like to have
a cold beer before I play, and spend a few minutes BS'ing with the owner,
or some folks in the crowd...

Do You Have Any Weird or Fascinating Fan Stories You Can Share?
LOL...once recently at the Electric Ballroom in Knoxville, TN, a deaf
gentleman came up to David and I while we were unloading our van...Of
course, we knew like not much of the sign language alphabet, and we were
at a loss...Poor guy could only make whining noises and we felt kinda bad
until we smelled the week-old beer on him...I figured out that he was
asking if he could go ahead inside, and I signed(kinda) "Sure".  He
grabbed my hand and held it to the sky as if asking the gods to bless me,
made this strange yelling noise, and vanished inside...draw your own
conclusions lol.

What Is Your Take On The Local Music Scene?
It IS improving...I feel like it's going to get saturated very soon
though.  There's a shift coming in the music scene, though.

Is There Anything You Would Like To See Change?
     Yes...More open-minded venues.

What Is The Best Venue You Played?
Without question, The Downtown in Morristown, TN.  Great crowd, great
owners, all-around excellent time.

What Is The Worst Venue You Played?
Wellllllll....I hate to say any venue we've played is "bad"...we're
certainly appreciative of any venue that allows us to play.

Is There Anything Else You Would Like To Say, or Any Advice You Would Like To Give?
Work hard, don't let 'em get you down, and come to a Wheatstone
Bridge show.
